The Self Inside is a space for black women to heal from family and generational trauma. In the black community, our family is EVERYTHING to us. While we are taught to always be there for our family, we are rarely taught what to do when our family is not supportive or even toxic to our wellbeing. The Self Inside is here to support black women as they discover who they are aside from who they thought they needed to be within their family.

about me

Latania J. Franklin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Latania obtained her master’s degree in social work from Loyola University Chicago in 2014.

After graduating from Loyola, Latania worked as a school social worker for 5 years in a public charter high school in Chicago. Once she obtained her LCSW license in 2018, Latania entered the world of private practice. As the result of her own healing journey, Latania has a special passion for and specializes in working with women who wants to heal from family and generational trauma. Latania’s main goal as a therapist is to help her clients reach their highest potential by helping them process their past so they can live the life they desire. Latania has mainly worked with minority and underrepresented populations.

Outside of her work, Latania loves listening to music, reading, engaging in her spiritual practices such as using crystals and mediating as well as dancing, and spending time with her son.
